Blog 5: Personal Opinion about legalizing marijuana and other drugs

Drugs are a quite complex issue. I think that is important not to generalize and be informed about it. Not all drugs are the same. Each afect ur body in a different way.   If there is something to be clear about, it is that the legality of drugs is not something that affects their use. Personally, I'm aware that there are drugs that are absolutely harmful to the body, that I would not be willing to try. However, they will still be there. Whether legal or not. There will be people who will consume them the same. We know that this is an issue that goes far beyond the legal plane. Illegality has only expanded and fostered the development of a drug trafficking market that we may never be able to fully measure. In the case of marijuana, its medicinal properties have been scientifically proven. In fact, recently the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, the United Nations executive body on drug policy, removed cannabis from the list of dangerous drugs. Officially recognizing its medica...

Blog 4: My future job

To think in a future job it’s a difficult work for me. I have not decided for a specialty yet. I like a lot of different journalism areas, but one that can cross all is investigation journalism. I always had an interesting to know and discover new things. My curiosity doesn’t let me leave any loose end.   I really enjoy the pleasure of finding what was hidden. Being able to bring those stuffs to light, I think is a privilege that you must know how to take advantage of. So, in any place wich I could have that privilege I would feel realized as a professional. If this include the possibility to travel and meet different cultures of course that would be a dream. But coming back to the reality, the truth is that great jobs and big salaries are not close to investigation works, and it’s important to be aware of that. For the same reason, I do not expect to be a millionaire being a journalist, I settle with a salary that I can afford to live well, maybe without great luxuries but h...

Blog 1: A COUNTRY I'D LIKE TO VISIT

I remember that when I was a little girl -and the only thing that I knew then of the world don't escape of my province bubble-  I watched, from TV program, a place that I thought was'nt real. I couldn't understand how their houses and buildings could float on the sea. All  the city was built over the water.  Then my mom told me that this  dreamy place for me, really exist, just that something far of Chile. I was impressed and, also, really sad.  ¿How could it be that so far there is such a fun and beautiful place? This country blew my child head. For a while, I think that I was a little obsessed with that hahaha. Anyway, I made a promise to myself: I had to visit Netherlands someday. Then, weren't  so much the things that I knew about it, besides the typical postals of the canals, the  bikes and tulips fields. Now there is a lot of things more that caught my  interest for this country.  First, First, their life quality levels are higher ...

Justice for Antonia

These days are very confused. The confinement. The introspection. The injustice. Writing help me to free my chest that I been felt so tight. It’s hurts me trying to understand and recognize all that happen. The rage and the anger sometimes mist all, and we really want that everything burn. Because hurts me know that the system always protects the rapists, the abuser. Your rapist and that of my friends, and all the women in my family. We are tired that people, men specially, feeling themselves with the right to blame us. Because the patriarchy has marked us all. I’m so tired for feel that I’m lucky, because I wasn’t be raped and only abused. What is it? I´m not satisfied whit that. However, to know that this felling to anger, rage, but also hope that it changes, moves us all comforts me. I’m think in my women ancestors. How much of her feelings and thought were silent? Well, now I´m just thankful for having amazing, stronger, and fighting women in my own, because we have e...

Childhood series: Caillou

When people ask me for my childhood always are the same images that come to my mind. My grandmothers house, the room that I shared with my little brother and my fathers, and of course, the TV, because in this time I watched TV a lot more than I do now. This memories are very special to me because I arrived from Santiago at   3 years old to live in Melipilla with my grandparents for the first time. In this house I just lived 5 years, but is in this place where my childhood memories are. My grandmother had a TV   on the dinning room that was so particular for me since it was so old that I liked for their strange shape and color but just a little because we could see only 3 or 4 national channels. I remember that one button was broken and we had to change the channels with the help of a pencil. In this TV I watched Canal 13 because in the mornings showed programs for kids like The Powerpuff Girls, which I always I loved. But since this TV didn’...

Mónica González

Mónica González is a woman that I admire so much. She is a chilean journalist who in 2019 was awarded for the national journalism award. This prize was an acknowledgment for more than 40 years of her work for free and independent journalism. One of her most valuable work was about bring to light, trought reports and interviews, the human rights violations during the dictatorship. Was in this time that she worked as investigation reporter for Cauce and Analisis magazines. Because at that time, were the written media, especially which were independent and opossed to the undemocratic government, which had a main role for the freedom of expresion and against the censure.  In fact she had to go into exile in Paris as a result of the political persecussion of the regime, but this didn't mean an end to her career as jorunalism. Actually, she stayed working during and after the dictatorship. She published a lot of books wich she compiled her main journalis...

A freezing cold moment

Well, the history of this picture remount me to my last holidays in San Pedro de Atacama. This travel was planned a long time ago with my two friends that I love so much. The day of this photo we had to take a tour at 4 am to Geysers del Tatio  it has 4290 m.a.s.l. The night before that day  we stayed up late hanging out  with the people of  the hostal.  So that dawn was difficult for us.  The temperature in the early mornings can be -20°C, acording to the guides. Because of that, when we arrived to the hot springs of the place, it was freezing cold. The worst moment was when we had to put on swimsuits. So, in the picture you can see my friend Gaby and me tryng to hide the cold that we felt. It was taken by my friend Mane,  who didn't want bath  in the natural pool. I chose this photo because represent an iconic moment of our travel. I remember that in that momement we hesitate to get into the water, but finally we decided  to do...

Gaspar the dog

Gaspar came into our lives in the march of 2018. I just started my first year of college and, how usually, I was staying in Santiago to come to my home at weekends. So one day, I arrived to my house and there he was. My mom and my brother had decided to adopt him. He was a very small criature. At first, he slept in my bed. But he grow up so fast, that he couldn't stay sleeping there. Well the true is that my mom always said to us that "the dog has to sleep outside". She didn't want a dog inside of the house, so we had to let him sleep in the garden and also buy him a house.  I have to say that, since he was so big of height but just a puppy in his mind, he was  a "bit of a mess" for the "order of the house". He liked bite anything that he saw and pee everywhere.  As time passed he learned to behave a little. He didn't pee everywhere, just outside. He knows he is the king of the family, He loves playing all the time with everybody:...

Ok, I said it: I love my laptop

I never liked the idea of being connected to the technology all the time, but unconciusly and without noticing I started to do it. The first thing that I do in the mornings is check all my socials medias and go online  because I like to always stay informed. So now I have to accept that, and  I  can say that the laptop is one of my favourites technology object. My last laptop  was with me (and my brother, because we have to share it) about 7 years. You can imagine that in the last time it became so slow that I really hated it. When we started online classes the situation was turned unbearable. That's how my mom finally made a big effort to give me a new one. My boyfriend (who know so much more than me about technology things) helped me to choose the perfect laptop for me, balancing price with quality. Now, I have  my laptop about one month and something more. I love it. I never had something so fast and good.  I can do a lot of things, like listen to...
